This might be silly, but there is nothing particularly 'Apple' about that sign. Other than the beautiful white typeface against black canvas, of course. As people have pointed out, it isn't Myriad set. Why would Apple change their font for one banner? Do they do this regularly?
Isn't it possible that this sign belongs to another company showcasing software etc at Macworld? Doesn't Apple normally have some sort of branding on their banners?
Excuse the ignorance if I have no idea.

Neither does obscurity. However, success in the music industry is generally measured by how many people like a musician's work. Ask any musician whether they'd rather create music that appeals to 4 people, or 40,000,000 people. Your individual lack of appreciation of The Beatles doesn't diminish their success, collectively and individually. To discount their accomplishments and influence is to display monumental naivet�.

If the movie store is announced on the 12th, I'm guessing the Aussie store will arrive some time in 2009 :) though maybe movies don't have as messed up distribution rights as music, but don't hold your breath.
I am not holding my breath, (i only have a ~3 breath anyway), if they have to talk to all of our movie corps, I don't like there chances...
But if there's anyone that can do it, Its Apple.

Steve looks unhealthy. He's not as sharp as he used to be. His keynotes were flawless. He stuttered several times, forgot what he was saying in mid sentence, and handed a considerable amount of the keynote to other people. Steve was a control freak in past WWDC keynotes.
I think he may be in not-so-good health. But I've said that before.
He might be a little under the weather, but he'll be fine. If you go back and watch the video from the WWDC '05 he looked totally out of place; dressed in all black and very little energy. It's a fluxional phenomenon with his appearance. WWDC '05 he looked terrible, Apple Special Event #1(Intel iMac & iPod Nano) he looked great, Apple Special Event #2 (iPod Video) he looked great, Macworkd '06 he looked fine, Apple Special Event #3(iPod HiFi announcement) he looked like he had just woke up.
The one thing to remember is that this is a Developer's Conference so there is not going to be a lot of pizazz with flashy announcements. There was not a whole lot of new mind-blowing things announced so he could have been a little bit bored with it.
No matter what, with the transition to Intel chips complete now Apple can start devoting more time to truly new designs and hardware.

Much faster. Even the 7300GT is significantly better.
Anyway, of the two NEW edition to the lineup, the 17" GMA iMac is much more important to Apple's well being. Why? Volume. They're going to sell ten of them for every 24". The 24" is a silver bullet machine. It's really cool looking, but I don't see many plunking down $2000 on a family computer. It's not going to really appeal to professionals or prosumers either because of its feature set.

Again as I stated before... Apple is really starting to dabble in the 3D interface. The album art is a good example of this. Granted its a rip off of someone else's idea...No idea of the name of the app but I was playing around with it a few months back that did exactly this. *shrugs* Whatever.

ive spent over 10,000 on itunes since it came out... you dont know me dude... im the farthest thing from a cheapskate in the universe.... im tyoing this now from my yacht in Bora Bora it isnt about the money, its about the convenience.... itunes works cause its instant gratification, im not going to fly to some developed country just to buy a cd by a group thats too stuck on themselves to join the rest of the world offering their product in a convenient manor... screw them...

Side Note: Of course I'm talking about the ones who release their stuff into the wild and don't just notify the software company about the problem and keep it to themselves (those are good people and should be commended - it's the other ones that are a waste of flesh)

(ahem) There IS a difference. Photoshop is far more advanced that Pixelmator for P-R-O-F-E-S-S-I-O-N-A-L work. It has a deeper set of tools and features available.
And some of them even work properly :-)

I think a high percentage of Americans will agree that the business models (taxes, outsourcing, low US manufacturing, unions, wages, health benefits, etc) are basically killing our way of life.
Maybe in 10-15 years the US will finally realize how much damage has been done and will start to get back in shape.

I think this attitude comes from backlash due to the fact that historically, men have been "king of the castle" and women have been subjugated. It's almost as if people are trying to make up for that.
This is silly; relationships should be on equal grounds. And EVERYONE should be able to do something awesome for themselves now and then, whether it be an iPad, a nice meal out, and so on.
That's not our fault that men of the past were like that, why should men of today pay for the mistakes of yesteryears?

Its similar with Tesco in the UK, they might not be as dominant as Walmart in the US but they aren't that far off it.
Actually, I think Tesco's share of the grocery business in the UK is much larger than Walmart's share of the retail business in the US.
And the worst thing is, it's growing at a more alarming rate than Walmart.
(And it's looking to expand to the US, from West to East, in the very near future...!)

I like the Beatles, though I seldom listen to their music. Lots of better and more recent stuff to listen to as far as I'm concerned. But there are lots and lots of people that will buy mp3's of all their music as soon as it is available legally from a download service.
They've just changed the single chart rules in the UK, so that all downloads sales count - previously the song had to be available on cd single as well for it to count. The general consensus is that when the Beatles are available for download they will easily occupy all of the top 10 single positions.
Again, not my cup of tea but I think it sums up just how big it will be once someone does license their catalog.
I was waiting for the 'we've licensed the Beatles' announcement after he'd played some of their songs as well. Though thinking about it, that would be done at a separate announcement, when Apple need some easy pr.
