I'm still under NDA, so I can't tell you as much as I would like about what was NOT talked about at the SuperMeet, but I will quote one Apple rep that I spoke with after the event: "This is only the first look, wait until we can share the full announcement."
I heard what the execs were saying after the event. There is much more to come. And I can't wait!

EDIT: Holy crap, that was pretty convincing to a relative amateur like me. They seemed to basically do whatever they wanted to the system. Was there something underhanded here that I didn't catch that would make this unusable in reality, or is there valid concern based on this demo?
I haven't seen the video. But if the description of the vulnerability says "seize control" or "aribtrary code execution", it's the real thing. They can do whatever they want, although sometimes restricted by the privileges of the user that the compromised process is running as.

Interesting point, although what you're not factoring in is that the resale value of CS5 is substantial whereas the resale value of the subscription model is ZERO :D
Nor the fact that the only part of that �8000 up-front cost you save is the �1700 cost of the Adobe software. 21% saving is better than nothing, but you would do better to get your business modelling and recruitment right...

And suggesting, or even blatantly stating, that Beatles and Madonna have transcended music more than Bach is about as musically stupid as it comes. Bach not only wrote his own music (Madonna just drops into a studio every now and then), he could also conduct orchestras (the Beatles could do one thing individually; that's why they are called the Fab FOUR), his impact on developing Baroque music is unquestioned and his composition skills and musical knowledge have been admired by the likes of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven.

In response to the advertisements my @$$! Figures they'd try to go after something that isn't written into the OS since we all know how hard that is. So big deal - put out a firmware update for the AirPort Extreme card and it's fixed - Next please!!

New iMac looks nice. 24"? never would have guessed it
at the $1999 price though, the $2499 Mac Pro starts to look attractive (or the downgraded to 2Ghz Mac Pro which is $2199)...
EDIT: then again, I don't have a big screen at home, so the 24" iMac would be a huge upgrade in both screen and computing power

I think I remember Jobs saying that no one wants to read a book with clunky low rez text, an e-book would have to have a sharp high resolution text.
You would have to make a screen that was 300 dpi, people with bad eye sight could enlarge the text.
Measure a paperback book without the margins, it comes to 6.4" X 3.6" at 300dpi that comes to 1920 by 1080 pixels, and that happens to be a HD Video ratio.

4 or 5 Sniper shots will destroy a tank. 2 or 3 if you are precise and can hit either the driver compartment, or the exhaust vent. Just FYI.
But also, you will only have to deal with that for a about another week. The October update to playlists and maps is coming next week, and the Tank is being swapped for a Wraith, along with a host of other fixes and tweaks that people have noticed in this first couple weeks of playing.

I don't play Halo multiplayer for a couple of reason. The main one being that i suck at it. But the other reason is the wait time to get into a game and then out of it to get into another. I dont have that problem with Modern Warefare 2 so I am just wondering if its me and my crappy connection or what?
The only way to get better is to play.
MW2 finds games a bit different to halo which is why it probably takes less time. For example in MW2 you can get put into games which have already started where as in Halo you can only play from the beginning of a match. And you can play with odd numbers unlike halo which needs even numbers.
I find the match making times are quite variable. Sometimes it can take 5 minutes and sometimes 30 seconds.

I agree that abuse needs to stop, but the underlined is completely and utterly false. This kind of abuse is so miniscule in scale compared to the hundreds of billions we are talking about here. The term drop in the bucket is beyond inadequate here.

I enjoyed the new features. They seemed "meh" to me when I was reading the live transcript, but when I actually saw them they impressed me. Timewarp is so much more than "volume shadow copy" and Spaces is much more than "virtual desktops ala X11"
Anyway, this developer preview is suppose to have the 10 new features in it... does that mean it will have the new Frontrow and the new Photobooth? Because weren't they part of the "whole package" feature?

This is for developers, they come to see what kind of software they need to develop. They don't really care for hardware, and they don't pay this much just to see the announcement of the iPhone, something they could have seen online or just read about. This is all about discussing what Apple wants developers to do in their programming.

Don't we post the 'tagline' every year?
Does anyone have the list of the slogans for the last few years and how they related to any product releases?? I believe this is a deliberate red herring by Apple. Pigs might be in the air - flying?
Either that or its something small(ish) like new Airport Express iTunes streaming thing. Maybe trying to make 2008 the year that everyone does away with CDs and downloads all their music and streams it around the house.
What about an Apple Radio of some sort? Able to play DAB radio and stream your iTunes.
