Well it is time for me to upgrade my current system to better work with leopard.
I'm looking to buy a Powerbook g4 Aluminum with the following minimum specs:
1.5ghz g4
512mb ram
80gb hard drive
superdrive
15"
Screen must have no imperfections and I would prefer a machine with no dents.
I would also prefer a working battery and the original box, but we'll see what I get offered.
In addition to the powerbook I would like to purchase an IBM thinkpad for work. Minimum specs below:
IBM T40,41,42, or 43
256mb ram
40gb hard drive
DVD-ROM
No dead pixels/dents
Working battery
If you have another brand of PC that is not IBM contact me anyway and I'll see if that particular model would work for me.
Let me know what you have to offer, either in a PM or posting a reply to this thread. Thanks!

Oddly, it isn't even in the Finder preferences. Just totally gone! I haven't deleted the Finder plist file though, so I will try that next. Of course, it's a preview so things like this are to be expected ;)

I've been following 256gb SSD prices for a while, and I've seen hardly any movement.
Also, I know shortly before the end of there was a lot of chatter about Intel's entry into the market and how prices would soon go down.
From what I've seen, none of that has materialized.
Does anyone have any ideas or insights about this? I'm personally only concerned w/ drives around 220gb and up.
Of course, my motivation to write this is that I'm dying to buy one but have been trying to hold out... :) Can't hold on much longer...
thanks much

Same here. There is nothing in 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 that I need and from previous experience if it ain't broke don't touch it.

Any idea on store opening times and when's the best time to que up. Going to one of the stores in Middlesbrough, Stockton or Darlington.
I think I said it in the "Newcastle, UK" thread but I've been to the three previous iPhone launches at Darlington's O2 store and there's never been a queue before 8.30 for a 9am opening.
I can't vouch for the other two but Darlo might be an easy place to get a 4 :)

So would the 7,1 mean seventh generation?
In a way. It also means you need "PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 200 Pin SO-DIMM RAM".

Hey, someone from my Apple User Group is trying to sell their 1.33Ghz 17" pb. If you're interested, I'll PM them on our forum and ask what they want for it. It has 1GB RAM/Superdrive.

I figured out a few things:
The older APC 1500 is using a stepped sine wave approximation, basically a square wave. Some say despite this frying sound coming from the PSU, the stepped "sine wave" is actually more efficient when transforming AC to the different DC voltages. It's still not a sound I like coming from any device, especially my file and backup server. Since I have CCTV connected to the server, I want it to be on as long as possible, not just so I can have the time to shut it down properly...
Apparently, NEVER connect a modern plasma or lcd TV or any solid state power supply to a square wave approx. output.
No one has had this issue?

I do like otterbox, but I don't like the defender series - prefer the commuter. ANyway I've pre-ordered an invisibleshied with a coupon for $14.99 from zagg but now debating also getting a case =( hmm I really wanted to keep it as slim as possible.

I like easter eggs.
Bungie has a lot of them, especially sneaking and integrating the number 7 into the content of the Halo series. If you've finished Halo: Reach, you know what I'm talking about.
I was playing around in Forge today and I dropped a soccer ball. I could see it had a barcode with numbers on it. Here are the numbers:

Could be something, could be nothing. Let's discuss easter eggs in the Halo series here.

I did some reading. If you have a jailbroken iPad and a certain app, you can upload the 1.0 optimum.api in a format that's sharable. Since the app is free, I don't see it being an issue of piracy to share it. I have an iPad 2 and there isn't a jailbreak for it yet. So someone with an iPad 1 can upload it.

IThis is a useful fair use enabling technology. It will mean that iTMS purchased songs could be played on any player that has licensed Jon's work.
That isn't what this product does, and if it did it would run straight up against EUCD, DMCA etc.
It will mean that the iPod can play music from any store that has licensed Jon's work.
That is what the product is intended to accomplish.

Can another company even sell music at less than $0.99?
Even if they could... would you pay $.79 for something that might not work in the next release of iTunes software?

Nice try. Next time make sure you know what you're posting about. Greenp0ison is a Jailbreak, not an unlock. (not only that, Greenp0ison is an OLD jailbreak which only works with v4.1)
The *only* unlock available, is the Dev Teams UltraSn0w, and it only works with old basebands. Since 4.1 the baseband has not been unlockable.
People do not seem to understand that a Jailbreak is not an unlock. They are two different things altogether (the unlock requires the phone to be JB).

The new MBPs are so underwhelming that I will run not walk to buy one of the 2010 machines (either Macbook or MBP) while I still can. Massive fail, Steve!
What were you expecting out of the new one that makes what came out seem so bad.
