Using VPC for Access is one of the good ideas.
However, MYsql is even better. My advice would be to buy a book, get caught up on the particulars, then get it. Also OS X has a great MYsql GUI-fied admin utility called YOURsql.
Open source baby!

Pull the added RAM, leaving only the factory RAM in. See if that helps.

There has to be some incentive to work harder. Taxing him at 50% or so would be OK though.
At that level, I am not seeing the need for incentive, please explain why billionaires need incentive to work harder?

Yep. That is why the viphone did not sell through... Verizon customers have lots of excellent choices when it comes to smart phones. No question if you are using a late model top tier android device like the dx it is Painful going back to a viphone. Add to that real 12Mbit plus downloads only on Verizon and only on android phones and apples offerings are not even in the game.
The viphone kills in video conferencing though....
I agree.
Tho I really wonder who is using Facetime? I know everyone talks about it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's like the webcam on my mac, yeah it's nice to have when I call my mom across the country, but it's something I'd use about 0.01% of the time, and if I were going to use it, it's more likely I'd tell my mom to get on the computer and skype me on my computer to have full screen HD video chat...

I am looking for some good headphones because my cheap in ears have broken. Again. I heard skullcandy's are good. I found both of them for 28 dollars and 32 dollars on overstock.com. I plan on listening to rap and hip hop and techno with a little rock. Which one should I get? Opinions?

Google ships not a single phone. It provides a free OS (from which it makes little money) to handset makers that sell phones. None of those handset makers sell a phone as popular as the iPhone, and all of them combined do not make as much money doing so. If one is comparing iOS (all devices) to Android (all devices), recent data suggests iOS is the more widely used.

This is just out today. HTC Thunderbolt outsold iPhone at Verizon. There's goes your cute little theory.
Make no mistake, this is an amazing quarter for Apple, but it's not the only one doing well in the smartphone boon.

I'm gonna get to the store at about 3:00. If there's already a big line (like more than 40 or 50), we'll wait in line. Otherwise, we'll go to play in the best store in the mall.

The MBA is the perfect machine. Able to drive huge monitors for "real work" without hiccup, a fast enough processor for most every task, and light and portable.
The high-res screen alone paired with the 320m GPU makes it the best choice Apple could make. Sandy Bridge with an Intel 3000HD would have made for a much poorer machine.

On the topic of photo storage and editing, I ran across this blog post in an app on my iPad called Photoverse. It details how to use star ratings to thin out a shoot without dumping any photos.

Thanks for sharing this app Dale! I have a lot of research to do! :)
ok 100Teraflops I use a Mac Pro daily for Music and Photography, The Mac Pro is a good beastie but alone it cant do the job, it must be paired up to a good Monitor, IPS panel if possible, I did use apple's but found the Dell's re-produced colour better. When you purchase your DSLR will you shoot RAW or Jpeg, think about it, RAW may be bigger files, but you can keep producing a good quality image from just 1 RAW file, On the subject of a scratch disk try and dedicate a complete disk as scratch.
my MP is set up as follows,
bay 1 :500gb for OS & apps
bay 2 :320gb as Scratch Disk
bays 3 & 4 : both have 1tb hdd's in a raid 1 configuration for music and stuff
All my RAW files & Aperture library are on a WD my book studio 4TB edition in a raid 1 via fw800 giving me 2TB to use, The system is simple and it works well. the big hdd's are all green WD drives. Hdd's are cheap now, but get the biggest you can afford (don't buy at the apple store), I find using Raid 1 I spend less time now backing up. The hardest part of photography is deleting images, you may take 100 shots and find only 2 of them are keepers, but getting rid of blurry, out of focus files will free up a lot of space,
you have had some excellent advice on here so far, and it will be nice to hear how you finally set up your workflow, keep us posted :)
Thanks for recommending the specs of a quality monitor. Your Mac Pro HDD configuration is simple and easy to understand. Are you using striping from OS X or did you set you RAID 1 with only two drives? I agree that it is very hard deleting photos, as I do not delete photos after I take them. I wait a few days or longer, and then decide if they are keepers. However, I take photos of my family etc and occasionally automobiles and landscape. Also, you are right that I have received excellent advice from the forum members. You folks rule! :)
I will keep you all posted. I am thinking that I should buy a Mac Pro soon! From what I have read on this forum, a new Mac Pro is not expected until 4Q 2011 or 2012. I do not want to wait that long for a stupid processor chipset. :D A few months is optimal, but 6-8 is not feasible. Thanks again for sharing knowledge and swapping ideas!

Why dont you just build a webpage and then send everyone a link? Just like the spammers do.
we thought of that and for our first email I think we might do just that. but we would rather do it this way so that it would better suit or needs. this is a mass email that we send out to people that sign up on our emailing list. we want to create something where it gives people updates for stuff we are doing every month, and everything would correlate back to our website we are working on. idealy we are going to have a printed news letter, an enews letter, and our website with all three fulfilling different needs.
here are some examples of what we are wanting to do.

The screen shots look really cool. Since I have a G5 hooked up to my TV, I think this would work great for what I use it for. Currently I just use a wireless Apple keyboard/mouse in front of the TV, but I want something a little different.

If they don't keep FaceTime open to non-iOS mobile devices and non-OS X devices, FaceTime will be dead in the water if it isn't already.
Exactly what I am saying. Even Apple has to eventually realize that their products are only any good if you can use them to connect with others. I mean... how many people do you know that use FaceTime by now? Oh, your friends got Android? Bummer. It's fine for Apple to use it to push their market share for some time, but in the end you have to come out the shell to become valuable in reality.

Drop resistance is important for me. A drop will happen eventually onto a hard surface, I want to make sure it does not affect my phone at all.
It would need to be sleek though and not too thick.
How is the otterbox commuter?

Interesting indeed, I would love for the two companies to be in bed together... Interesting things for consumers might result. I see T-Mobile as a fresh alternative to Cingular... Plus, T-Mobile could use better designed phones, who better to hook them up with some Innovative ideas?;)
