I don't think Wal-Mart makes money on a lot of their DVDs. They sell them at a loss to get people in their stores. If people buy on iTunes, they don't come into Wal-Mart.
Are you serious? Wal-Mart doesn't put a single thing in their store if it doesn't make them money. With Wal-Mart selling 40% of ALL DVD sales, they are making a nice revenue.
The only thing that they may start doing that doesn't make them much is their new generic drug program, where they are selling over 300 generic drugs at a much deeper discount then leading competitors. Wal-Mart isn't required to report earnings in this field, so who knows how it will go. I'm assuming well.

My diesel SUV will EAT your 95 MPG mini-mini. Hoooya. and when did this become the Auto blog?
:(
I think I got off on a tangent, 'cause to be honest if I had the means I'd probably own one too. Sorry for being a hypocrite.
It's just at 19 I'm limited as to what I can afford, so a scooter seemed like a good investment to save money while I go to school.

Okay, I mostly agree with the comments that this is being overblown because the AE card inside the Mac is not being used. But....
Two things:
1) I re-iterate my comment much earlier that this does point to a long-term problem that has to do with the fact that there is no real non-discoverable mode available in most implementations of the Wi-Fi client driver, as there is with Bluetooth devices and with Wi-Fi host drivers in routers (why? because I'm pretentious! :p ).
2) I don't completely understand this business of an external card being used. Can anyone help me out? So an external card was used in OS X, correct? Don't most OS X external cards that do work, work based off the driver that is shipped with OS X and not with a driver provided separately by the card vendor? Installing drivers in OS X is very rare. Does the unnamed external card use the same OS X driver used for the AE card, or does it use a different one? If it uses the same one, it's not clear that the driver in OS X is completely safe.
Not panicking here...but this seems like an opportunity to improve computer security for us all...

However, the suggestion that Blacks can somehow gain equality with Whites just by "getting their act together" is totally fallacious.
Is it that easy? I don't think so. Getting their attitude together might be closer.
If their parents are all about denigrating the "system", or the "man", what hope do Black youth have? None.
You can pretty much be anything you want to be, in today's Western culture. But you have to work for it, like everyone else. There is no free ride, just welfare.
Black roll models are everywhere, for Christ's sake. Just apply yourself.

Yes but I'm interested to know why you think the numbers are disproportionate. If you don't think it's race, finances, or lack of access to social services then what is it?
Who knows? Maybe there is a genetic component involved.

Regardless of the current state of 3D display technology (i.e. terrible), the future will most likely be in 3D. Maybe Apple will be the first to get 3D right, like how they were the first to get the mp3 player, smartphone, and tablet right! You've got to admit, they've proven the general populace on these forums wrong many times.
Obviously, "getting it right" would mean the following:
1. No stupid accessories (glasses, lights on your head etc.)
2. Minimal headache complaints
3. Same, if not better, resolution as the current iPad.. but in 3D
4. Actually adds a whole lot to the user experience
5. POSSIBLY, allowing multiple people to see "3D" from different angles
If they do "get it right", maybe we'll see Apple making 3D TVs. Who knows. They have gone from a computer company to a personal electronics company over the last decade.

I am glad to see Apple put their product anywhere it can to increase sales and get devices into peoples hands. Not every place has an Apple store, or maybe even a Target or Best Buy close by. Well done Apple!
Yes, and to all the posters here somehow suggesting that Apple is being inconsiderate to their loyal owners who can't get one yet, while adding a new retailer need a reality check.
Do you think someone at RS and Apple just made this deal yesterday? It's much more likely that this has been in the works since long before the iPad 2 launched.

Not so much about the data caps. There's no choice with many service providers. AT&T's data plan with the iPad for one example.
Without being too argumentative, the problem is people want a specific device and unlimited data. You can get unlimited data in a number of ways - just not necessarily with a specific device.
More to the point, I think it's just Full of Win mentioning that it's not a very ideal solution for those in Adobe's demographic. Which is a point we can discuss. I personally feel they've got it right, but I doubt there will be any substantial market for renting the full on suites when buying them outright ends up being a cheaper/more convenient option.
Actually, subscription makes sense when you consider:
a) You have the latest version at a known fixed cost
b) As a lease, rather than buy, it becomes tax deductible in full with no depreciation
c) If you only use some apps infrequently, it may be cheaper than a full suite
So it may make sense for some companies and or individuals.

* An unconfirmed forum post claims (http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=304580) that the Mac Pro CPUs are swappable.
Intel price for 2.66 GHz woodcrest is $690, 3.00 is $851, and you need two of them. Instead of upgrading, you might as well buy another Mac Pro.

They only come in glossy screens now? Damn... im a photojournalist and need color accuracy on screen and it would NOT be good if things looked to have more contrast then they actually do. :(
the macbooks are largely a consumer notebook, and the option for matte is doubtedly that important for most consumers. macbook pros, on the other hand, are given in matte or glossy

The iPad2 and all the other tablets on the market are primarily media consumption devices. I see no problem with ToysRus or anyone else from carrying it as long as they are a reputable company.
Along those lines, that is where the iPad runs circles around all other tablets out there. They allow one to do it all, from watch your favorite show, listen to music, surf the web, etc... I have a Viewsonic gTablet running (rooted) Android, and it is really great and all, but the entire Android platform lacks the ease of use of the iPad (and the smoothness) and the big name programs like Netflix.
I've been waiting for ANY of my local stores to have iPads in stock and I will be picking one up for my wife, so this is welcome news for me.

They're skipping the whole touchscreen/tablet thing and moving straight to 3D holograms that allow you to type, drag/drop and everything else by moving your hands and fingers around inside the hologram.

I love the idea. A yellow 80GB iPod with the full Beatles collection (or black with the yellow dial). A huge score for Apple in the war with MS.
I'd never buy any Beatles music myself for personal reasons, but, I'd still be glad to see Apple score this coup.
(on the idea of the custom iPod, why don't they still offer the U2 version with the discount on the full U2 collection?...)

Bach is awesome.
The Beatles are awesome.
Go outside, people.
I agree completely. Is it a crime to actually like both Bach and The Beatles? I must be an aberration or some kind of musical freak, according to certain people in this discussion:D
And it's nice and sunny outside today.
Anyway, good news on the early success of The Beatles- hopefully they can keep selling and laugh in the face of their detractors.
